Adrenal Masses

Providing timely and convenient access to the highest possible urologic care available.

The adrenal glands are located directly above the kidneys on both sides of the body. The adrenal glands are responsible for helping regulate levels of salt, sugar and sex hormones in the body. Adrenal masses are almost always discovered incidentally on an imaging study like a CT scan or MRI that is ordered for some other reason. The vast majority of adrenal masses are benign, meaning they are not active or cancerous and do not require any definitive treatment or follow up. Rarely, adrenal masses need to be removed. To help determine the significance of your adrenal mass, Dr. Gibson will likely draw a simple blood test or perhaps order some additional imaging of the adrenal glands.
